Based on where you are now (experience, age, technology, etc.) and what you have

Based on where you are now (experience, age, technology, etc.) and what you have discovered thus far through your readings and reflection, design and submit your Personal Advocacy Action Plan related to how you are going to advocate for yourself in your profession and professional network – on campus and off – to learn from and teach others about what you and your students are doing in agricultural education. This should NOT be a “chapter” social media plan – this is your PERSONAL Professional Advocacy Plan.
This plan should include a minimum of 4 goals. Goals should follow the SMART goal format (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely). The goal of this assignment is for you to not only create the plan, but to carry it out and make it be sustainable for yourself. You can submit your Personal Advocacy Action Plan as a document or a media recording (if you’d like to video record yourself).

Be sure to clearly identify each assignment including your name. You may attach more than one file, but please try to minimize the number of attached files that have to be opened separately.
Write an annotated bibliography, that is a combination of summary and evaluation, of 10 scholarly journal articles on the topic of your literature review. These must be articles that will be used in your final paper. Conclude the bibliography with 3-5 main themes or assertions about the research topic that you can use in the final paper.
Each concluding theme do at least one of the following:
Compare and contrast discussions/findings between articles
Identify research methods and challenges of studying the concept or theory
Implication for application or leadership practice in different contents
Ongoing research needed on the concept or theory
Students may not have written an annotated bibliography before. For a descriiption of this style of writing and formatting see this video tutorial: (strongly recommended) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8nO9rezBNk
This assignment is designed to move your thinking about the topic from an understanding or comprehension level towards the levels of analysis and synthesis. Please see the attached review/graphic of Bloom’s Taxonomy. As you read articles you must be working to understand the entire body of literature and not just a single article. How does a single article contribute to the body of literature available. What insight does it provide? What theme, pattern, or finding does it support? It is this bigger picture that you will present to your reader and the hallmark of an effective literature review.

Critically evaluate and discuss its impact for clinical leaders in the Irish health care system
The Mid Staffordshire report made for some heavy reading, as the document progresses as a healthcare professional your heart sinks further.
What I found most shocking about this report is that you can see very easily how this happened.
Working for the HSE (Irish health care system) currently it was easy to identify some similarities in the current climate across the HSE.
Summary of the report
The report was completed following several complaints by the public and registered bodies about “serious failures on the part of the trust board, it did not listen sufficiently to its patients and staff to ensure the correction of deficiencies brought to the trusts attention”
The first inquiry was commenced as a result of concerns raised about the trusts mortality rate when compared to similar trusts. The HCC launched an investigation into the trust following what was perceived as a “concerning reaction by the trust to the mortality statistics and number of complaints”
The document can be broken down to two main components broken– findings and recommendations –(290 recommendations compiled from the report).
This topic discusses the many ways in which concerns were raise during the highlighted tie frame of concern.
• Loss of star rating
• Cancer peer reviews identified “a number of concerns , often serious concerns with the trusts ability to deliver a safe service ”
• HCC- “trust did not meet the requirements or the reasonable expectations of patients and the public”
• Findings noted concerns raised by nursing staff and was described as “dysfunctional” by a report from the royal college of surgeons
What is most significant in my opinion is the Focus that was placed on the trusts application to become a Foundation trust – This moved the focus from patient care to a financial focus thus enforcing unsafe practices – This shift in focus forced cuts in staffing levels – as a result the service could not provide adequate quality of care or comply with minimum standards.
The trust board were aware of the issues and it is clearly noted that the wider system “did not react to the constant flow of information signalling cause for concern”
The findings identifies the ways in which services failed.
The foundation trust application ignored the person centred approach to care and as a result it set measures and standards that focused on financial budgets, ignoring the cost to patient care .
Impact for clinical leaders
There is a lot of learning to be had from this document and those who are leaders within health care in the current climate should pay particular attention to the findings.
Staffing
The document clearly identifies the risks associated with under staffing / poor staffing levels and as anyone who has been on a ward in recent months the staff to patient ratio is quite high. Every day the overcrowding of hospitals is being reported – at the height of this crisis earlier this year the government rolled out a guidance document to encourage already over worked staff to work even more just with slightly better overtime rates . No consideration was given to the fact that these staff are already over worked and how this may effect patient care . They had a focus primarly on reducing the numbers being reported. Anecdotally I feel this resulted in earlier discharges with higher re admission rates.
Service user voice
What struck me throughout this whole report was the lack of Focus on the service user involvement – The document repeatedly notes that patients and their carer’s were ignored and that their voices were never heard until the commission report was being completed. Within mental health for the past number of years the mental health commission has put a heavy focus on service user involvement. They even trialled in some areas a service user sitting on interview panels. Service users now have a voice and are encouraged to use this voice to influence change.
This also links to the complaints procedure , as a leader complaints that are made must be taken seriously and all efforts must be made to ensure that at a minimum basic care needs are being met.
Complaints by staff must also not be ignored as was the case in the report where serious leadership complaints in the a&e department were not resolved.
Continuous professional development
Leaders and management with in each service must ensure that staff are given/ allocated protected time to engage in education – the document highlights the importance of this for all members of the MDT – this would positively impact the level of care being given to the service user, it would also improve staff moral by showing that the service cares for the employees.
Patient flow
Considering the high waiting lists with in the HSE this is an area that all leaders must try to focus in on – The patient flow is bottle necked due to un necessary waiting times in all areas of care from GP to even LTC .
As a leader / manager we must understand why we should do our best to link with local GP’s , Nursing homes , chemists so that networks are built to ensure everyone is working together .

In this week’s Strayer Talk, you saw how Coach’s team reacted to receiving their DiSC personality results. You also learned how their distinct personalities help them succeed at JGR Racing.
Understanding your personality and how you work best can open doors in your life and career and improve your communication with those around you. Now that you have your own DiSC results (D, i, S, and/or C) describe a situation at home, school, or work where you had difficulty seeing eye-to-eye with someone else due to personality differences. How would understanding your DiSC profile have helped you communicate with them more effectively?
For example, let’s say you scored high on i (influential and optimistic) while your boss shows many of the strengths of a D (focused on the task, strong drive, direct, assertive). In the past, you may have had a hard time communicating with your boss because of her assertiveness. You might realize that you would be more effective communicating with your boss if you present your ideas in a “no-nonsense,” direct way. She may not take you seriously if you go off-topic.

Throughout history, organizations have regularly failed. Many have failed due to their lack of innovative structure and culture. Your group has the opportunity to research an organization that has failed because it was unsuccessful in implementing innovation. You may choose an organization of your own or one of the following:
